So, PIK’s Screen Subtraction option produces great details in a foreground key, like fine hairs. However, when exporting an EXR or TIFF16, all of that detail is lost and only the details allowed by the alpha are present. My question is how do you export those fine details revealed by screen subtraction so that it’s in the FG layer? Is there a secret to comping that output, then, over a BG?
I ask this because the colourist will always want the BG and FG as separate elements to grade properly, and not just a matte pass. So, having those details in there would be useful to them.
